This watercolor study explores the stillness of a lake and the soft transitions of color across its surface.
This piece was part of my process of learning and becoming more comfortable with watercolor. I focused on how pigment disperses in water, allowing edges to soften and blend naturally, creating a sense of depth and atmosphere.
The composition is kept open and minimal, with gentle shifts between land and water guiding the eye through the scene. The goal was to capture a quiet moment, where form is suggested rather than defined.
This study serves as a foundation for future work, where these qualities of light, softness, and atmosphere are integrated into more detailed natural environments.
